  • Who should join SHTMES and How to apply for a membership?
    Any SHTM students or alumnus who are interested in pursuring their careers within the event and convention industry are encouraged to join our society. Complete the Registration Form. A notification email will be sent to you soon. Follow the payment instructions. You are encouraged to transfer the fee within 6 working days. A confirmation email will be sent to you after the payment. You will be reminded to collect your personalised membership card once your membership is active.
  • Who should join the SHTMES ExCo programme?
    If you are enthusiastic in learning and practicing the event management / planning skills; or to serve the SHTM community and improve personal growth; or would like to broaden your network and cooperate with our industry partners - look no further! All SHTMES student members who demonstrates strong sense of responsibility, ethical leadership and teamwork are welcomed to apply for the programme.
  • How to apply for the SHTMES ExCo programme?
    The SHTMES ExCo programme usually opens between 1 September to 30 September. However, we do remind you to check the society's official social media for updates in the program. Indicate your interest in Registration Form / Send us an email. Complete a short personal information form (which will be sent to you later). Attend an interview. You will be notified if you are selected in the final round. Good luck!

  • How to pay for the membership fee?
    We offered various payment methods, including: e-banking transaction (Hang Seng Bank / HSBC) Payme Alipay WeChat Pay Cash payment Feel free to contact us through email if you have encountered difficultes in online payment methods.
  • How can I pay the membership fee in overseas?
    As HSBC's official website has stated, transactions to Hang Seng Bank / HSBC accounts (FPS) can only be done through HSBC Personal Internet Banking account or HSBC HK Mobile Baking app if the individual is outside Hong Kong. Since we are no expert in FPS policies, we recommend applicants to pay in other methods or pay us in cash when he / she returns to the campus. Do send us an email of notification if such situation happens.
  • I am unable to pay the fee within 6 days. What should I do?
    It is perfectly fine, as we understand transaction can sometimes be challenging and complicated. We would keep your registration in progress until your transaction is completed. Do send us an email of notification if such situation happens.
  • Can I join SHTMES events if I am not a member?
    Occasionally we will open our events to all SHTM students or even to all PolyU students. However, some of our events are only open to SHTMES members. We also reserve priority for our members first in mentorship opportunites or workshop. Please be reminded that non-members may be required to pay an additional amount to participate in our activities.
  • What is HKECIA and its relationship with SHTMES?
    The Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) is the authoritative organisation of the Hong Kong exhibition and convention industries since 1990. Through participating in the student chapter activities, HKECIA members serve as advisors, mentors, and partners to SHTMES' members, influencing their progress and thus benefiting the industryas a whole. The student chapter also gives participating HKECIA members a chance toidentify and recruit promising graduates. Through sponsoring various activities, HKECIA members connect student members to achieve the objectives of the student chapter.
  • What is the purpose of establishing SHTMES?
    To meet the increasing demand from the industry to train professionals, SHTMES is established to connect student members to industry leaders. The student chapter also serves the purpose of entrepreneurship education for student members. Click here to know more.
  • What activities are usually organised?
    We usually organise annual general meetings, annual christma parties. outbound study tours, professional conferences, industry seminars, site visits to venues, industry leaders’ experience sharing, networking events and skill / professional development workshops. We also take part in ExCo and ILEA mentorship program.
  • How to join the ILEA Board Mentorship Program? What are the stages of the ILEA Board Mentorship Program?
    All undergraduate and Master level students, or fresh graduates are welcome to join. Note: Year 2 & 3 majoring in Event Planning might get a higher chance in participating the programme. Students will be invited to submit a resume and finish an online form. Applications will be reviewed by the university faculty / advisor / selections committee. Qualified students are selected from each university and students are paired each with one to one with an ILEA Board Member. Pairings are based on experience, specific industry interest, language skills, and skill proficiency. Students will have the chance to join a monthly board meeting and gain valuable experience through follow-up projects.
  • What is ILEA and the ILEA Board Mentorship Program?
    The International Live Events Association Hong Kong (ILEA Hong Kong) is the association for event industry professionals that are passionate about knowledge, networking and event creativity. For over 27 years, ILEA has provided an inspiring platform for the best practitioners in the creative event industry to connect and share ideas. By participating in ILEA Board Mentorship Program, members will have an opportunity to be paired with senior executives ranging from Event Production Houses to Exhibition Solutions Providers to PR & Creative Agencies. They will enjoy the privilege of joining monthly board meetings and will gain practical experience through projects (5-10hrs / mth) that relate to the events industry and developing the membership organization.
